is a Georgia native born in Americus. Soon after her birth, her family relocated to the Atlanta area. Upon completing high school, Kathryn attended Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida with an emphasis on Painting and Illustration. Later, she broadened her studies and attended Portfolio Center in Atlanta to explore Graphic Design.
Over the past fifteen years, Fortson has won numerous awards and participated in many juried shows in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. She has also been featured in numerous print publications and TV features to include; Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle magazine, Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper, ABC's television production Better Mornings Atlanta , Creative Loafing Atlanta edition, Decorating Spaces Magazine, Nashville Arts magazine, Northside Woman magazine, HGTV magazine and HGTV production - HGTV Green House Giveaway 2012.
In the past couple of years, Fortson has brought forth a new series of mostly abstracted pieces. She adds an "earthier" palette to her bold bright, and colorful palette. Her work has taken a turn in style and technique that she describes as a freer approach that is in alignment to her ever-growing spiritual stance.
